Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Ranked as a High Performing Hospital by U.S. News & World Report in Neurology and Neurosurgery, the Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU) is a 16-bed unit dedicated to caring for patients with complex neurosurgical conditions. As part of the Henry Ford Neurosciences Institute, you'll work alongside a dynamic multidisciplinary team—intensivists, fellows, residents, advanced practice providers, pharmacy, physical therapy, and nursing staff. Nurse Assistants are essential team members who directly impact patient outcomes and recovery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Partner with Registered Nurses to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care that prioritizes safety, comfort, and dignity for patients with complex neurosurgical needs
- Actively contribute to care planning and implementation by providing valuable observations and insights that help the RN optimize patient outcomes
- Respond swiftly and confidently to emergent situations, following established protocols to ensure patient safety and support the care team during critical moments
- Collaborate seamlessly with the multidisciplinary team to support comprehensive patient care and contribute to a culture of excellence

Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Must meet one of the following required criteria:
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)) but perform the same job role.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
- At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
- May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
- Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
Certifications/Licensures:
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license preferred.
- Complete BLS Heartsaver Certification during orientation.
