This position is working in the Surgical Coding area which could include OR/Endoscopy/Deliveries

Role Overview

As a Medical Coder, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate and compliant coding of diagnostic and procedural information from patient medical records. Your work directly supports reimbursement, billing, medical research, and administrative decision-making, promoting continuity of care and optimizing revenue. This role is essential for maintaining compliance with coding guidelines and third-party reimbursement policies.

What You Will Do

  • Review, analyze, and code diagnostic and procedural information from patient medical records for reimbursement and billing purposes.
  • Accurately abstract data from medical records to support research, patient care evaluation, and administrative decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Promote provider/patient continuity and accurate database information to optimize reimbursement.

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Additional specialty coding certification or five (5) years of coding experience.
  • One to two (1-2) years college or additional coursework in Accounting, Business, Healthcare Administration or Medical Record Sciences preferred.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.
  • Minimum of two (2) years coding experience required.
  • Specialty coding experience preferred.
