Job Description

As a Lead Registered Nurse in Critical Procedures for Internal Medicine, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional patient care while mentoring and inspiring a dynamic team of nursing and support staff. This position uniquely balances hands-on clinical excellence with meaningful leadership—spending approximately 30% of your time leading and developing your team and 70% providing direct patient care in critical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and mentor a team of four or more staff members (RNs, MAs, CSRs, etc.), fostering a culture of clinical excellence, professional growth, and compassionate care
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by applying the nursing process—assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to coordinate comprehensive care and patient education
  • Supervise and delegate clinical responsibilities to nursing and support staff, ensuring quality standards and optimal patient outcomes
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in critical procedures while maintaining current knowledge of best practices and evidence-based protocols
  • Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure seamless communication and coordinated patient care
  • Document patient care thoroughly and accurately, maintaining compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
  • Model clinical competence and professional accountability, setting the standard for your team's performance and patient interactions

 

Qualifications

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
  • Successful completion of HFMG Pharmacology test
  • Current BLS certification
  • Regulatory certification as required by the State of Michigan (e.g., Advanced Cardiac Life Support [ACLS] or Oncology Certified Nurse [OCN])
  • Two to three years of clinical nursing experience
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plans
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services
  • Strong communication skills with patients, families, and medical group personnel
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
