Job Description

**$2,000 SIGN ON BONUS**

Shift Hours: Mon - Fri 0930-1800 only - 5 Saturdays a year

Location: 2799 W Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202

GENERAL SUMMARY:

As a Medical Assistant in our Internal Medicine practice, you'll be the cornerstone of our patient care experience. Working under the direct supervision of our providers and nursing leadership, you'll combine clinical expertise with genuine compassion to deliver exceptional care. Your role bridges clinical and administrative functions, ensuring every patient receives quality care from the moment they arrive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create Welcoming First Impressions: Greet patients with professionalism and warmth, escort them to exam rooms, and help them feel comfortable in our care.
  • Gather Critical Patient Information: Obtain comprehensive medical histories with attention to detail, ensuring accurate documentation for clinical decision-making.
  • Monitor Patient Health Indicators: Measure and record vital signs with precision, serving as an early indicator of patient health status.
  • Prepare for Clinical Excellence: Ready patients for examinations and procedures, explaining what to expect and addressing any concerns.
  • Support Clinical Care Delivery: Assist providers during examinations and procedures, anticipating needs and ensuring smooth, efficient patient interactions.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

We welcome candidates with diverse backgrounds in healthcare. You'll be a great fit if you have one of the following:

  • Medical Assistant Program Graduate: Completion of a formal clinical externship (minimum 160 hours), OR one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the past five years
  • Certified Medical Assistant: Current certification from AAMA (CMA), AMT (RMA), NHCA (CCMA), or NCCT (NCMA) with a minimum of five years of clinical experience
  • Healthcare Professional: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or EMT with at least one year of clinical experience within the past five years
  • Military Healthcare Background: Trained medical personnel with a minimum of one year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting within the past five years

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR systems, particularly EPIC)
  • Strong computer and keyboarding skills
  • Demonstrated clinical skills in ambulatory care settings
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and interpersonal communication skills
  • Professional Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA/CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA)

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current BLS-C certification upon hire, or successful completion by the end of orientation
