Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Payroll Manager oversees the day-to-day payroll operations for Henry Ford Health's multi-entity healthcare system, ensuring accurate and timely processing of compensation for over 50,000 employees. This role requires deep expertise in ADP Tax and Garnishment, PeopleSoft HR processing, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The Payroll Manager serves as a key liaison between Payroll, HR, Finance, and IT, and supports strategic initiatives led by the Director of System Payroll.

Qualifications

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Four years of payroll experience may be considered in lieu of degree)
  • Minimum five (5) years of payroll experience, including supervisory responsibilities
  • Healthcare payroll experience required
  • CPP certification preferred

**TECHNICAL SKILLS & SYSTEMS PROFICIENCY:**

  • Strong proficiency in PeopleSoft HR
  • Strong proficiency in ADP Tax and Garnishment
  • Strong proficiency in UKG Pro WFM

**CORE COMPETENCIES & EXPERTISE:**

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex payroll operations across multiple entities
  • Experience with payroll audits, tax filings, and garnishment processing
  • Familiarity with union contracts and multi-state payroll regulations
  • Knowledge of various financial and accounting practices and procedures
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements
  • Strong collaborative skills across departments and with external vendors
  • Passion for customer service and continuous improvement
