Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY:
As a Behavioral Health Technician, you'll work under the direction of the Registered Nurse to deliver compassionate, direct patient care that transforms lives. You'll support patients navigating addiction, behavioral health challenges, and mental health conditions by creating safe, therapeutic environments where healing and recovery can flourish. Your positive interactions, clinical expertise, and unwavering commitment to patient wellbeing will be essential to our team's success. You'll take ownership of patient care by proactively identifying and communicating significant clinical concerns to your manager, ensuring every patient receives the highest standard of care.
Qualifications
**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Minimum of one year of college experience in Behavioral Health, Allied Health, Psychology, or related field
- OR at least one year of Behavioral Health Technician experience
- OR applicable experience such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Ability to physically manage patients when necessary in a safe and therapeutic manner
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
- Two or more years of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician in an inpatient psychiatric or addiction medicine setting (location dependent)
**REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:**
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients with compassion, empathy, encouragement, and support
- Analytical skills to assess patients and gather clinically relevant data
- Ability to collaborate with healthcare providers to deliver quality, safe patient care
- Proactive communication and clinical observation skills
**CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:**
- BLS Heartsaver Certification (must be completed during orientation and maintained as active)
- WELLE Certification (must be completed within first three months of employment and maintained as active; location specific)
