Job Description
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
Under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN), you will deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care while making a meaningful difference in the lives of patients with complex infectious diseases. Your key responsibilities include:
- **Provide Direct Patient Care:** Assist patients with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, comfort measures, and safety needs while maintaining strict infection control protocols appropriate to the unit's special pathogen environment
- **Support Clinical Excellence:** Collaborate with the RN to gather patient information, monitor vital signs, and report observations that inform individualized care planning and patient outcomes
- **Respond to Patient Needs:** Promptly respond to patient requests and emergent situations according to established procedures, demonstrating clinical judgment and composure under pressure
- **Maintain Safety Standards:** Adhere to infection prevention protocols, proper handling techniques, and safety procedures to protect patients, yourself, and the healthcare team in this specialized infectious disease setting
- **Contribute to Team Success:** Actively participate in unit operations, communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, and uphold Henry Ford Health System's Team Member Standards of Excellence in all interactions
- **Embrace Professional Growth:** Engage in continuing education opportunities and skill development to advance your clinical competency and stay current with infectious disease best practices
- **Ensure Patient Comfort:** Create a supportive, dignified environment for patients with complex medical conditions, recognizing the unique challenges they face and the specialized care they require
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Must meet one of the following required criteria:
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g., Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)) but perform the same job role.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program with or without experience.
- At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
- May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
- Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
Certifications/Licensures:
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) license preferred.
