Job Description
Henry Ford Health is seeking a contingent Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This inpatient, operating room-based role provides care for high-acuity adult cardiac surgery patients in a fast-paced, highly specialized environment.
- Provide advanced assessment, differential diagnosis, and clinical decision-making in collaboration with cardiothoracic surgeons
- Deliver comprehensive pre-, intra-, and post-operative care for cardiac and thoracic patients
- Perform patient evaluations, document histories, conduct rounds and physical examinations, and prepare discharge summaries
- Assist in all surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting, and first/second assisting in cardiothoracic operations
- Formulate and implement post-operative treatment plans under physician supervision
- Maintain current BLS/ACLS certification and adhere to department protocols and guidelines
Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current Michigan licensure as NP or PA
- National certification (ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) certification
- First/Second Cardiac Surgery Assisting certification
- DEA registration and Michigan Controlled Substance License (PA only); DEA registration (NP only)
