Job Description
Must hold the qualification of TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or an equivalent recognised training and assessment qualification that meets current ASQA requirements, to successfully apply, as this is a mandatory requirement of the RTO to deliver the course.
We currently have a unique opportunity for a Mental Health Trainer & Assessor to train and upskill cohorts of students undertaking the CHC53315 Diploma of Mental Health.
The Diploma of Mental Health runs for approximately 14 months, with a unique blended online learning approach that ensures a flexible and engaging learning environment, with the first cohort commencing soon.
Join our passionate HCA Education team to deliver training in a growing and critical sector—mental health—supporting the development of the next generation of healthcare professionals. Our trainers are provided with structured session plans and resources prior to training sessions.
As a Trainer & Assessor, you will:
- Deliver engaging and interactive online training sessions via Zoom.
- Facilitate learning and assessment activities for students undertaking the Diploma of Mental Health.
- Provide ongoing guidance, support and constructive feedback to learners.
- Conduct student placement visits to observe and assess students in their workplace/placement environment.
- Liaise with students and placement supervisors to support successful student outcomes.
- Complete workplace observations and assessment activities in accordance with assessment requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely student, assessment and compliance records.
- Participate in assessment validation and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure all training and assessment is delivered in accordance with relevant training package, regulatory and RTO requirements.
- Maintain current industry knowledge and ensure training reflects contemporary mental health practice.
- Apply a variety of teaching methods (including workplace mentoring, where appropriate).
- Prepare and maintain teaching and learning resources.
- Mark assessments and provide feedback to students (within required timeframes and using an LMS).
- Participate in Validation and/or Moderation Sessions.
- Identify and report student learning difficulties.
- Support students with additional learning needs.
- Assist with the review of teaching programs.
This is a casual role, approx. 8 - 10 hours per week, depending on training schedules and business requirements.
Let’s Talk About You!
As a Trainer & Assessor with a Diploma-level or higher qualification relevant to Mental Health, Community Services, Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or a closely related field, you are passionate about adult learning and developing future talent in healthcare.
You will have TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or an equivalent recognised training and assessment qualification that meets current ASQA requirements.
You will also bring:
- Current industry experience and currency in Mental Health, with demonstrated vocational competency relevant to the units being delivered and assessed within CHC53315 Diploma of Mental Health.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills and industry experience relevant to the specific units of competency being delivered and assessed.
- Previous experience delivering and assessing Diploma-level VET qualifications, preferably CHC53315 Diploma of Mental Health.
- Experience conducting workplace-based assessment, student observations and placement visits.
- Ability to confidently deliver engaging and interactive training online via Zoom.
- Strong understanding of competency-based training and assessment and current VET/RTO compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and learner-support skills.
- Current industry engagement to maintain vocational competency and industry currency.
- Current Working with Children Check and/or Police Check, as required.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to student placement locations as required.
Availability is required to train in the afternoon and evening, with classes running across selected weekdays. Classes are generally 5:30pm–9:30pm, with role plays running 3:00pm–9:00pm.
