Since December 2024, HCA has been providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention Network.

We are seeking experienced Mental Health Nurses and Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Nurses to join our growing team. Working alongside GPs, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and other allied health professionals, you will play a key role in delivering person-centred care and supporting positive health outcomes.

Job Description

Employment Type: Part-time or full-time positions available

As an AOD Nurse, you will be part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team providing person-centred, high-quality, and safe care to individuals in detention with alcohol and other drug-related needs. You will conduct comprehensive AOD assessments, develop and implement care plans, deliver brief interventions, support withdrawal management, and monitor progress.

This is a great opportunity to work across a range of AOD services, including harm reduction, health promotion, medication administration, and psychoeducation. You'll be delivering compassionate, evidence-based care in a trauma-informed environment that respects the rights, culture, and dignity of every individual.

Let’s talk about you!

  • You will be an AHPRA-registered Nurse (General, unrestricted registration) with either a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in AOD (non-telehealth) plus a post-graduate qualification in mental health.

  • OR

  • You will be an AHPRA-registered Nurse (General, unrestricted registration) with either a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience as a AOD Registered Nurse without a post-graduate qualification.
