Job Description

Direct Service Delivery

Working with other district level staff and under the guidance of the District Technical Advisor will:

  • Provide direct clinical support in the management of HIV, TB, MNCH, malnutrition cases, and cervical cancer screening and first line treatment.
  • Support optimal provision of services at facility level to ensure clients receive comprehensive, continuous, and people-centered care.
  • Support initiation, monitoring, and retention of clients on treatment, ensuring adherence and minimizing lost to follow-up.
  • Strengthen prevention services, including TB screening, HIV testing, PMTCT and cervical cancer screening
  • Conduct regular site visits to deliver mentorship and coaching to health care providers to build their capacity in clinical decision-making, case management, and adherence to national guidelines.
  • Support supply chain management systems to ensure consistent availability of essential commodities and minimize stock outs.
  • Strengthen referral and linkage systems, including psychosocial and community‑based services, to ensure continuity of care and improve service quality.
  • Strengthen documentation and consistent use of the e-register for real-time service tracking and reporting
  • Support accurate data collection, verifying completeness and correctness of source documents.

Program Optimization and Data Use

  • Support the implementation and adherence to Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), providing corrective feedback where gaps are identified.
  • Support DHMTs in implementing, and monitoring district health activities in line with national and donor priorities.
  • Collaborate with District Health Management Teams (DHMTs) to integrate service delivery standards into supervision tools and facility assessments.
  • Assist facilities in applying program optimization methodologies to improve service quality, monitor progress, and strengthen data driven decision making.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing forums to highlight best practices and promote innovations in program optimization.
  • Document and disseminate lessons learned from program optimizations initiatives to encourage shared learning across districts.
  • Promote people centered care approaches that emphasize dignity, respect, and responsiveness to client needs.
  • Coordinate TDY visits and ensure effective follow-up.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. funding restrictions, including those related to abortion services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing)
  • Current registration and good standing with the Lesotho Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse Midwife.

Additional Information

Bonus points if you have:  

  • A minimum of 5-10 years of progressively responsible clinical experience within the public health sector, with demonstrated experience in HIV, Tuberculosis (TB), Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH), Primary Health Care (PHC), or related integrated health programmes.
  • Experience providing clinical mentorship, supportive supervision, or capacity building to healthcare workers.
  • Experience working with the District Health Management Teams (DHMTs) and Ministry of Health systems.
  • Experience supporting quality improvement (QI), program optimization, or health systems strengthening initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience using routine health information systems, electronic medical records (e-register), and data for program improvement.
  • Experience supporting donor-funded health programmes, preferably PEPFAR, CDC, or other international public health initiatives, is an added advantage.
