As part of a new initiative, we have an exciting opportunity for registered healthcare professionals to join our Clinical Hub.

As a Secondary Triage Clinician, you’ll work alongside a talented team of Clinical Support Officers to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for conducting secondary triage and providing timely clinical advice and support via telephone and digital platforms.

This role will be based at our Integrated Operations Centres in Auckland or Christchurch. We currently have opportunities available on both a part-time (20 hours per week) and full-time (40 hours per week) basis. You’ll work on a rotating roster Monday to Sunday across days, swings, and nights.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively within the Integrated Operations Centre environment to offer clinical advice and guidance to patients, with an overall focus on achieving the best possible outcome for the patient.  
  • Conduct secondary triage assessments for patients.
  • Utilise evidence-based triage protocols and clinical judgement to determine the urgency and appropriate level of care required. 
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and health professionals to assess symptoms, provide health advice, and support self-care when appropriate. 
  • Return incidents to dispatch queue with appropriate emergency ambulance response.
  • Document clinical interactions accurately and timely in electronic health records or designated triage platforms. 

Qualifications

Ko wai koe - About you:  

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A registered New Zealand healthcare professional with a relevant APC (Nurse or Paramedic), with a minimum of two years’ experience in a senior clinical capacity, demonstrating advanced clinical judgement and the ability to make independent clinical decisions.
  • Experience in triage, emergency, primary care, or telehealth is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, ensuring safe and appropriate patient outcomes.
  • Confident using clinical decision support tools and electronic health systems to inform and document care.
