He aha te tūranga - About the role:
We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our close-knit team, helping to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services to our dedicated people across Aotearoa. You'll be part of the wider People Experience team and joining a critical function - paying wages, salaries and reimbursements for our members (both paid and volunteer).
Process end-to-end payroll (monthly, weekly, fortnightly) accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and Hato Hone St John policies.
Maintain the Payglobal database.
Provide friendly, knowledgeable support to employees and managers with payroll queries by email and phone.
This is a permanent role offering 32 hours per week (Monday to Thursday), with flexibility to suit your schedule. The successful candidate will ideally start in late January or early February 2026.
Qualifications
Ko wai koe - About you:
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their accuracy and has confidence to work independently whilst staying connected to a supportive team. You will have:
- Proven experience within a Payroll or HR Admin function, preferably within a large organisation
- A strong understanding of New Zealand payroll legislation, systems, and processes (e.g. Holidays Act, PAYE, KiwiSaver).
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in your work
- A customer focus with good verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work to deadlines and be able to prioritise accordingly
- Experience working with PayGlobal would be advantageous
- Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
