Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong professional with an architectural or design background who enjoys applying critical thinking to complex project requirements. In this role, you will help ensure design and construction compliance across projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and specialist interface disciplines to support high-quality, well-coordinated outcomes.

About the role
As Architectural Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting compliance across the design process. You will review and interpret technical documentation, monitor project requirements, support interface coordination and help ensure that designs align with relevant codes, standards and contractual obligations.
Working closely with Team Leaders, Principals, Project team members and our Professional Practice Team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of projects through robust compliance management and clear technical guidance.
Key responsibilities
- Review and interpret architectural drawings and technical documents to ensure compliance with project requirements, applicable codes and industry standards
- Collaborate with architects, engineers and specialist disciplines to support regulatory compliance and technical integration across projects
- Lead architectural compliance processes, particularly in relation to departures from project requirements, ensuring appropriate justification, review and documentation
- Understand and allocate project requirements in line with relevant contract obligations
- Conduct detailed interrogation of data relating to design performance, compliance and interface requirements, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders
- Assess and interpret the impact of regulatory and client-specific requirements on design proposals, providing logical and practical advice to support decision-making
- Manage and monitor interface requirements, ensuring team leaders and project teams understand and meet compliance obligations
- Prepare clear, concise compliance reports and present complex technical information in an accessible way
- Identify project risks and maintain the RAIDOC register covering risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, opportunities and constraints
- Support the implementation and management of the compliance framework across design teams
Qualifications
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- experience in an architectural, design or related technical role
- strong technical drawing and documentation understanding
- solid knowledge of relevant codes, standards and statutory requirements, including the BCA, Australian Standards, DSAPT and related compliance frameworks
- a collaborative working style and the ability to work effectively across disciplines
- strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to understand not only how requirements apply, but why
- experience interpreting and interrogating data to validate compliance outcomes
- familiarity with managing Project Requirement Departures and related assurance processes
- an understanding of project technical requirements and how interface disciplines contribute to overall compliance
- strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly
- proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- an organised and detail-focused approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
