Company Description
Hamilton City and Waikato District Councils have formed a publicly owned, Council-controlled Organisation (CCO) to deliver water services across Hamilton city and Waikato district. The company is called IAWAI - Flowing Waters and will take over the provision of water services from 1 July 2026. This transition will occur in stages such as the current Watercare contract for Waikato District Council transferring to the CCO on 1 July 2026.

We’re on the lookout for a talented Contract Manager to help deliver some exciting projects. You will join the IAWAI team in providing critical infrastructure to ensure the resilience and growth of Hamilton and Waikato.
As a Contract Manager, you’ll play a key role in making things happen. You’ll be part of a team that’s shaping the future of our community, working on projects that truly make a difference. Experience in civil engineering infrastructure with a focus on NZS391x conditions of contract Engineer’s Representative responsibilities for the successful delivery of 3 waters infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience
- 3-5 years’+ experience in contract documentation preparation and tender evaluation.
- Strong MSQA experience and general engineering advice & support for small, medium and large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience in a Contract Engineer/Manager role, ideally with a Tertiary level qualification in Civil Engineering.
- Understanding and experience of programme, financial and risk management.
- Experience of supporting or directly managing small, medium and / or large scale (million-dollar+) capital delivery projects.
- Experience in engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
- NZS391x Contract Management experience.
- The ability to work hard while understanding balancing that with positive team culture and collegiality. A team player is a must!
