Company Description

Hamilton City and Waikato District Councils have formed a publicly owned, Council-controlled Organisation (CCO) to deliver water services across Hamilton city and Waikato district. The company is called IAWAI - Flowing Waters and will take over the provision of water services from 1 July 2026. This transition will occur in stages such as the current Watercare contract for Waikato District Council transferring to the CCO on 1 July 2026.

2 x positions available - 1 x for Operations & Process and 1 x for Maintenance Delivery

IAWAI is seeking 2 x Business Administrators to provide high‑quality administrative support across the organisation. As an individual contributor, you’ll play an important role in keeping our operations running smoothly and ensuring teams have what they need to deliver on IAWAI’s strategic goals.

In this role, you’ll support day‑to‑day business activities, help streamline processes, and contribute to the coordination and organisation that underpins effective service delivery. Your work will enable teams to stay focused, aligned, and equipped to deliver great outcomes for our communities.

Qualifications

Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience 

  • Proven business administration skills.
  • 5+ years’ relevant business administration experience or similar, with emphasis on finance, quality, and improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence in other software tools.
  • Self-awareness that mindset is the foundation of performance.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Ability to operate independently, anticipate requirements, and monitor workload.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity.
  • Advanced written communication and presentations.
  • Financial and purchasing skills.
  • To recognise and implement te Tiriti o Waitangi in work at IAWAI.
  • Experience working in local government is preferred but not essential.
