Company Description
Hamilton City and Waikato District Councils have formed a publicly owned, Council-controlled Organisation (CCO) to deliver water services across Hamilton city and Waikato district. The company is called IAWAI - Flowing Waters and will take over the provision of water services from 1 July 2026. This transition will occur in stages such as the current Watercare contract for Waikato District Council transferring to the CCO on 1 July 2026.

IAWAI is seeking a Governance Coordinator to provide high‑quality administrative, coordination, and workflow support to the Office of the Chief Executive and Governance. Reporting to the Executive Director-Governance & Government Relations, you’ll play a central role in ensuring governance processes run smoothly, efficiently, and with absolute professionalism across the organisation.
In this role, you’ll coordinate Board and Committee activities, support core governance administration, and maintain accurate, timely information flow across IAWAI. As a key point of contact for governance documentation, processes, and requests - including LGOIMA coordination, you’ll help keep our governance function well‑organised, responsive, and aligned with organisational expectations.
You’ll also provide flexible support across the wider governance team, helping to manage deadlines, streamline workflows, and ensure operations remain seamless. Qualifications

- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in administration, coordination, or executive support roles.
- Strong experience supporting senior leaders or working in a large or complex organisation (preferred).
- Relevant qualification in business administration or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and video conferencing tools (MS Teams, Zoom).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in governance documentation.
- Ability to build strong working relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with financial processing (invoices, expenses) advantageous.
- Experience with communications support or social media monitoring is an advantage.
- Flexible, proactive, and able to work in a fast paced and evolving environment.
- Demonstrated discretion, confidentiality, and professional judgement.
