We’re looking for a confident and relationship‑focused Contract Performance Manager to join our Transport team. Reporting to the Head of Transport, you’ll take the lead on how we manage and support our key contracts, making sure they’re delivering value for money, efficiencies and great outcomes for our community while staying well‑connected to Council priorities.

In this role, you’ll be the go‑to person for building strong, effective relationships with our consultants, contractors, and partners. You’ll oversee the full contract lifecycle - from procurement through to performance ensuring everything runs smoothly and meets the needs of the Transport Unit. A big part of your focus will be managing the performance of the Collaborative Corridor Agreement Contract, along with several other important contracts across the team.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively work with existing and new suppliers to ensure the transport unit agreements and contracts are in place where required. 
  • A register of key agreements and contracts is maintained, and the terms of contracts are proactively monitored and managed. 
  • Ensure robust processes and information are in place to support excellent contract management and procurement of contracts. 
  • To manage overall contract performance and delivery. 
  • Ensuring programmes focus on delivery of strategic priorities. 
  • Ensure risk management is a priority. 
  • Leading best practice and innovation. 
  • Administer amendments to the contracts (Variations and inclusions of Innovation proposals). 
  • Ensuring meeting and Council reporting action items are closed out. 
  • Protecting the reputation of Council. 
  • Ensure other contracts with Council have the best interest of the Transport Unit. · Maintain and foster supplier relationships. 

Qualifications

Qualifications and experience:

  • 15+ years’ experience developing and managing contract relationships in a commercial setting. 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (legal, business or similar) 

Qualities and attributes:

  • Proven experience drafting and managing contracts and agreements, supported by a sound understanding of risk and legal considerations. 
  • The proven ability to assimilate and translate contractual information, legislation and information quickly; 
  • Analytical ability and business acumen. 
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of high-level external stakeholders and suppliers. 
  • Proven negotiation skills with ability to achieve agreement between parties with differing goals; 
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders (internal and external); 
  • Ability to operate independently, anticipate requirements and monitor workload; 
  • Advanced written communication and presentations 
  • Experience working in local government (preferred) including a strong understanding of procurement processes. 
  • Future orientated, anticipating trends and using this to formulate plans and alternatives for the future. 
  • High level of political and business acumen, tact and diplomacy.
