Company Description

This role sits within our Communication and Engagement Team. They figure out what needs to be communicated to Hamiltonians, who needs to know, when to say it and the best way to deliver the message. They craft questions to gather the right information from our community about what matters most to them and provide the insights back to staff and elected members. 

Working together with our elected members and the community, we help tell Council’s story, highlight key projects across the city and show Hamiltonians how they can take part in the decisions that shape their city.

We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative Digital Communication and Engagement Advisor to help us on our journey to be the leading community-focused Council. 

As our Digital Communication and Engagement Advisor, you will prepare and implement social media campaigns to keep Hamiltonians informed and engaged on the things that are important to them. You will be our go-to person for planning and implementation of advertising across a wide variety of digital platforms.

This job is for you if you enjoy working with a diverse range of people, are familiar with tools to help manage digital channels such as social media, analytics and email marketing, love being creative and identifying new ways of engaging people with a digital lens and have a knack for taking and editing photos and video.

Qualifications

Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role, with emphasis on social media and digital advertising.
  • Demonstrated success in leading digital communication and engagement projects.
  • Experience with tools to help manage digital channels including social media, Google Ads, analytics, customer relations and email marketing.
  • Experience with web content publishing.
  • Experience with taking and editing photos.
  • Experience with filming and editing video.
  • Fantastic communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate independently, anticipate requirements and monitor workload.
  • Excellent writing skills and strong attention to detail.
  • A solid understanding of digital communication channels and how to effectively use them.
  • Ability to think creatively and look for new ways of delivering outcomes.
