Our great river city is buzzing, we’re all about connecting our community and our Council. It’s about making sure we work alongside our community so we can understand and plan for the things that make the most difference for Hamiltonians.
The Community Development Team aim to improve the social, cultural, environmental and economic wellbeing for Hamiltonians by utilising community-led development principles in working with our communities of Place, Identity and Interest. We’re a close-knit team, knowing what we do makes real impact in the community, where we also support each other in a positive environment.
We have an opportunity that can make real impact for someone who has a passion for community development and relevant experience to join our team as a Community Advisor. We are looking for someone who has proven experience in community-led approaches with knowledge and skills in capacity building of community organisations, as well as highly tuned communication and influencing skills.
Your natural ability to work across organisations to achieve joint social wellbeing outcomes will be key to your success. You’ll ideally have established networks in the Hamilton community, proven skills in activating and enabling organisations and communities, and be able to operate professionally and astutely in a political environment.
Ultimately it will be your energy and passion for our community and your desire to build a better tomorrow that will make you stand out from the crowd.
Qualifications

- 5+ years’ experience in a similar industry.
- Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership responsibilities.
- Experience working with a diverse range of people and advanced cross-cultural understanding.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in partnership with community groups.
- Stakeholder relationship management skills, including the ability to establish new key stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively to achieve outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Circa $75K dependent on skills and experience.
