Job Description
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Senior Accountant, you are responsible for ensuring that the financial operations in Austria are well managed, compliant, and transparent, contributing to overall business success in accordance with H&M Group policies and local regulations.
You are accountable for accurate and timely financial reporting, statutory compliance, audit coordination, internal controls, and legally required filings. By ensuring high standards of financial governance and operational excellence, you contribute to informed decision-making and sustainable business performance.
You will:
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial statements in Austria.
- Stay updated on IFRS and local regulations to ensure compliance and maintain high reporting standards.
- Oversee statutory, tax, and customs audits in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure the implementation and effectiveness of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR).
- Prepare and submit local statistical reports and other legally required filings in a timely manner.
- Monitor service delivery from the Shared Service Center and ensure high-quality execution.
- Act as a trusted business partner for regional stakeholders, driving cross-functional collaboration and financial transparency.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and implementing best practices.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will be part of the Regional Accounting Hub team and work closely with the Country Manager CH/AT/SI and other accountants within the region.
You will collaborate with colleagues in Shared Service Center, Controlling, Security, Payroll, Tax, Legal and other key stakeholders to ensure high-quality financial reporting, compliance, and efficient financial operations.
By building strong relationships across teams and markets, you will contribute to accurate, transparent, and compliant financial processes while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the region.
WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for people with…
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (a master’s degree is an advantage).
- 8–12 years of experience in accounting, preferably within retail or FMCG industries.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Experience in multi-country accounting environments or regional setups.
- Proficiency in accounting systems, preferably SAP and Trintech Cadency.
- Experience working with shared service delivery models.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and business acumen to identify and manage risks and opportunities.
- Proficiency in German and English (written and spoken).

JOIN US
This is a full-time position, starting as soon as possible. The role is based in Vienna, with the expectation of working from our office four days per week.
Your gross salary depends on the agreed weekly working hours and is based on a full-time salary starting at EUR 4400 gross per month, paid 14 times per year.
