COMPONENT DEVELOPER – FOOTWEAR BAGS BELTS
WHAT YOU DO – ROLE DESCRIPTION
As a Component Developer – at H&M, you are responsible for developing materials and components with a primary focus on leather footwear bags and belts. You also support other material categories such as fabric, PU and trim. You ensure all developments align with H&M’s standards of quality, cost efficiency, sustainability, and speed-to-market.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive the development of leather components with strong focus on footwear bags and belts
- Continuously provide new fashion-driven materials and qualities to Product Designers
- Lead supplier quotation processes and negotiations to secure the best cost and value
- Develop and maintain seasonal component libraries in line with trends
- Own and drive new developments focusing on quality, durability, and sustainability
- Ensure all components comply with H&M global standards including chemical and sustainability requirements
- Collaborate with Product Designers, Material Responsible, and suppliers
HOW YOU DO IT
- Work with ownership, structure, and attention to detail
- Apply solid product knowledge across Footwear, bags and belts
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers
- Communicate clearly with a proactive, solution-driven mindset
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- Footwear construction (mandatory)
- Leather materials, finishes, and treatments
- Components for shoes, bags, and belts
- Knowledge of H&M sustainability standards and compliance requirements
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory: Footwear component development experience
Preferred: Bags and belts experience
