Job Description

As Head of Finance & Controlling, for Business Tech, H&M you will drive financing strategies, budgeting, financial reporting, and outcome tracking for Business Tech. You will identify cost-effective financing options to support the Business Tech Strategy & Roadmap, manage and track budgets, and report on CapEx and OpEx spend. This includes consolidating inputs, developing a feasible financial plan, and implementing funding, cost allocation, and financial tracking processes. In this role, you will lead and develop a team of controllers and analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, transparency, safety, and trust. With full ownership and accountability, you will focus on value creation, growth, and serving customers while delivering exceptional business and customer results.

As part of the leadership team, you will play a key role in delivering on the overall agenda for the Business tech function, supporting the key shifts in H&M’s long-term plan.

Your main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Be responsible for the overall Budget & Financial Strategy – Accountable for delivering and consolidating Business Tech budgets, ensuring alignment with the BT Strategy & Roadmap.
  • Implement and operate financial governance processes, budget allocation frameworks, and capitalization strategies to promote transparency and compliance.
  • CapEx & OpEx Management – Track, manage, and report actual vs. planned spend, ensuring financial discipline across Business Tech.
  • Develop automated tracking dashboards, define minimum standards for data collection, and implement OKR-based performance measurement.
  • Guide financial decision-making, balancing short- and long-term business needs while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and develop you unit and team with colleagues and managers within controlling and analytics, fostering financial excellence and benchmarking against industry standards.
  • Be an active member of the leadership team in Business Tech organization driving both your own unit as well as the totality for the function. 

Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced, strategic, and dynamic leader with a proven track record in leading a finance function within a high-level business environment.  

You excel in clearly communicating strategic and financial plans to both technical and business audiences. With a strong problem-solving mindset, you have the ability to frame complex business issues, design effective solutions, and deliver impactful results.

As a true team player, you are skilled at building strong relationships with stakeholders and fostering an engaging, collaborative work environment. You have a natural continuous learning mindset, with the drive to acquire new skills and lead improvements

We also see that you have:  

  • A University degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, Economics/ Finance, or similar knowledge from experience. 
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams as well as proven experience in leading through change, creating high-performing teams, and challenging the status quo.
  • Experience in Agile or product-based organizations, with a focus on outcome-driven steering, funding, cost allocation, and execution tracking.
  • The ability to set clear goals, drive outcomes, and optimize processes to achieve both short-term and long-term success.
  • Strong business-technology alignment, with an understanding of H&M Group’s complexity and the role of technology in driving business success.

The right candidate has experience in the Retail & e-commerce business and understands the key drivers of tech transformation costs.

The ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and collaborate across teams will be key to success in this role. Strong communication skills in English, both spoken and written, are therefore essential for effectively engaging with stakeholders across various levels.
