Engineering Manager - SAP EWM Functions

Job Description

As SAP Engineering Manager, you will have formal staff responsibility for 10-15 engineers working on various products focused on SAP EWM products. You are responsible for building a strong engineering culture, designing a Community of Practices for your area, and enabling and securing strong organizational health by ensuring that you plan for both deliveries and competence development.

Within your area, you will be responsible for recruiting, staffing, and retaining talents including having a healthy mix of consultants and employees in appropriate tech locations. As a SAP Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the team can efficiently staff initiative according to set goals – with a healthy work/life balance.  
You will also manage the demands of various stakeholders, address conflicting priorities and urgent deadlines, and convert long-term objectives into practical strategies, utilizing your skill to shift between detailed focus and a broader perspective. 

Responsibilities: 

People Development: 

  • Providing strategic direction and oversight in the coaching and mentoring of SAP Application engineers. 

  • Conducting performance reviews for Engineers and setting goals for them 

  • Creating and implementing comprehensive professional development plans for Engineers and supporting them in developing plans for themselves 

  • Overseeing the recruitment process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals 

  • Leading the onboarding process for new engineers 

Training: 

  • Organizing and providing training to ensure that the engineers have the right skills to be successful in their job 

Budget Management: 

  • Planning and managing the overall budget for the product area you will be responsible for

  • Ensuring resources are allocated efficiently across teams

Cross-functional Coordination: 

  • Collaborating with product managers and other Engineering managers to ensure cross-functional alignment and support engineers in maintaining this alignment within their teams. 

  • Ensuring that all teams' effort is in alignment with overall business goals and strategic initiatives. 

Staffing: 

  • Managing the composition and workload of the area, addressing staffing needs and gaps holistically in collaboration with Engineering Managers. 

  • Establishing and maintaining the optimal ratio of consultants and full-time employees to balance expertise, flexibility, and costs. 

  • Developing and executing location strategies to optimize team performance, including onshore, nearshore, and offshore staffing models. 

Qualifications

  • Solid managerial experience required, ideally 3-5 years in similar roles. 

  • Demonstrated expertise as an SAP EWM Functional Consultant, with experience leading teams in this domain.   

  • Firm grasp of Warehouse Management processes for both e-commerce and traditional settings.   

  • Proven track record in establishing and managing resource allocation budgets.   

  • Familiarity with large enterprises, preferably within a similar industry that involves complex backend systems.   

  • Capacity to mentor others in ways that foster professional growth and enhance performance.
