Job Description

As the Sr. Project Manager you work with a complex, multi-disciplinary Operations team. You’ll work closely and align with key stakeholders across the Guardant organization - senior leaders, regulatory, medical, commercial, marketing, technical development and bioinformatics teams, among others. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the activities of a growing Operations team comprised of multiple departments.
  • Meet regularly with directors and managers from other groups to field requests for Operations resources and to balance the priorities of departments to the team member level.
  • Develop project plans, track action item completion, and anticipate obstacles before they put timelines at risk.
  • Identify and advocate for resource needs to achieve project objectives.
  • Drive department quarterly goals and objectives ensuring alignment and proper execution from corporate goals to each individual within Operations.
  • Develop and maintain Operational KPIs to ensure the health of the business.
  • Communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, from wet lab scientists to clinicians to executive team members.
  • Contribute to the functional excellence of project management by participating in the development and continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and tools related to project and portfolio management practices.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or life sciences research environment
  • 7+ years of experience in project management
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically when planning, managing teams, and managing processes
  • Skillful use of interpersonal skills and influence to accomplish work without formal authority and to ensure optimal team performance
  • Requires strong experience facilitating project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision-making ensuring alignment with internal and potentially external stakeholders in a highly matrixed organization
  • Must have sound judgment, problem solving, matrix management, and collaboration in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions to problems
  • Demonstrated ability to take accountability for all project management aspects and works effectively and closely with project leaders

Additional Information

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment.  Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.  Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
