Job Description

As a key member of our Maintenance Team, you’ll ensure our production equipment and facilities run smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you will perform the high-level mechanical work required of a Journeyperson while collaborating closely with the planning team. You will provide the technical insight needed to build effective work packages, schedule down time, and ensure that our maintenance strategies are grounded in real-world shop floor experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Execution: Perform all typical Millwright/Industrial Mechanic duties, including the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of production equipment and bridge cranes (up to 25 tons).
  • Planning Support: Assist in the development of short-term and long-term maintenance schedules. Provide technical input for regular down time and major shutdowns to help achieve zero breakdowns.
  • Work Package Collaboration: Help prepare mechanical work packages by providing accurate estimates for time, resources, and specific task requirements based on your field expertise.
  • Data & Inventory Input: Support the integrity of the company maintenance software by documenting activities accurately. Coordinate with stores to help define correct inventory levels for critical spares and consumables.
  • Safety Integration: Contribute to a high level of safety by assisting in the development of Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) and participating in safety related projects.
  • Team Coordination: Work alongside planners and maintenance specialists to ensure work orders are executed within scope. Assist in monitoring the proper use of the preventive maintenance module across the team.

Qualifications

What You Bring:

  • Certification: Journeyman Millwright / Industrial Mechanic certification (or equivalent) is required.
  • Technical Expertise: 3+ years of experience maintaining complex industrial systems, with strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Planning Experience: 3+ years of experience in an industrial setting with a strong background in maintenance planning, scheduling, or work package development.
  • Software Literacy: Familiarity with Maintenance Management System programs and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Analytical Ability: Strong ability to interpret and edit mechanical drawings; experience with mechanical system commissioning is an asset.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to lift 40 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally; willing to work bi-weekly rotating shifts (day/evening), including weekends.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written English skills with a team-oriented, reliable mindset.

Additional Information

Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, lifting, climbing, and manual handling. Must be able to work in tight spaces and at heights. Visual acuity and the ability to focus are essential.

Work Environment:
You'll work in a steel fabrication facility with exposure to noise, vibration, fumes, heat, and moving equipment. Use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory. This is a safety-sensitive position with direct impact on personal and team safety.

This position requires you to work bi-weekly rotating day/evening shifts.
