Responsibilities for Assistant Controller

  • Prepare monthly PVM and margin analyses and provide insights to leadership.
  • Analyze Grimco US and subsidiaries' financial statements, communicating variance explanations to Leadership on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Support the preparation of department specific financials on a monthly basis.
  • Contribute to the creation of the quarterly board presentation for review by the CFO.
  • Develop annual budgets and forecasts for subsidiaries, zones, and territories.
  • Review tax returns and respond to tax notices.
  • Complete certain month-end reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Deliver daily cash reporting and weekly/monthly cash forecasting.
  • Aid and help coordinate the running of annual audits.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly/yearly balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Employ best practices, policies, and processes to monitor and ensure appropriate control environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills – able to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting and financial processes (closing, budgeting, reporting, etc.)
  • Excellent computer skills including proficient use of MS Excel.
  • Goal-oriented and deadline driven.
  • Focused and innovative to contribute to an ever-evolving company
  • Ability to work hard and smart – never satisfied with the status quo.
  • Ability to take direction and to make independent decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Desire to take on additional accounting-related responsibilities, including managing a team, over time.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and true commitment.

Strong Preference For:

  • CPA license or intention to acquire
  • Cumulative GPA > 3.0
  • FP&A or Data Visualization software experience
