Job Description

As the Residential Life & Communications Officer, you’ll play a key role in shaping a vibrant, inclusive and supportive residential community. Working closely with the Residential Life Coordinator, you’ll help deliver engaging programs and events, support student leaders, promote wellbeing and academic success, and lead exciting communications and marketing initiatives across Griffith Accommodation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting residents and student leaders in managing collegiate matters and fostering a positive residential culture
  • Monitoring student academic progress and implementing early intervention and support strategies
  • Coordinating social media, newsletters, marketing campaigns and promotional activities including Open Day and Welcome Weekend
  • Assisting with the design and delivery of engaging Residential Life Programs and community events
  • Supporting student welfare, pastoral care and wellbeing initiatives
  • Contributing to a safe, inclusive and respectful living environment aligned with University values and policies

The incumbent will be required to be flexible with working hours and is expected to work outside normal office hours.

About you
You’re a confident communicator and natural relationship-builder who enjoys working with diverse student communities. You bring creativity, initiative and sound judgement, along with the ability to balance student support, event coordination and communications in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll also have:

  • Experience in student engagement, residential life, events, communications or community development
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience managing social media and promotional content
  • A genuine passion for student wellbeing and community connection
  • Flexibility to work outside standard office hours when required

What we can offer
This is a full-time, fixed-term (until 15 January 2027) opportunity based at Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site university you may be required to work across other locations.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary range
HEW level 5 salary range $84,918 - $92,456 per annum, plus 17% superannuation.
