Job Description

The Clinical Nurse will provide (nursing) health assessment, primary health care and treatment of illness and injury incurred by students, staff and visitors, and respond appropriately to requests for emergency first aid on campus. The Clinical Nurse will support other health professionals at the Health and Medical Service and provide health education and promotion for students and staff. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Under the direction of the Senior Clinical Nurse provide health assessment and treatment of illness and injury incurred by students, staff and visitors.   
  • Manage the provision of efficient and effective clinical and nursing services, across all practice locations, which underpin the delivery of high-quality healthcare to clients. 
  • Ensure that all activities are compliant with the RACGP accreditation standards for General Practice, University and other relevant regulatory requirements, as well as those of relevant external health service providers. 
  • Assist visiting doctors and other health professionals with relevant client care and ongoing treatment. 
  • Maintain appropriate and accurate electronic attendance records, confidential reports and health and medical services statistics using medical software supplied.   
  • Provide general support to staff in Student Life in dealing with clients with all health-related issues.  
  • Develop and enhance appropriate health referral networks on and off campus.  
  • Provide primary health care, including information on health issues pertinent to the client population and University community generally.  Including displays, handouts, seminars, workshops and other activities.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant legislation and University policies and procedures, including equity and health & safety and exhibit good practice in relation to same.   
  • Be a leading example of the principles and values embodied in the University’s Code of Conduct, and behave, act and communicate at all times to reflect fairness, ethics and professionalism. 

What we offer
This is a part-time (60%) continuing position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 7 range $101,068 - $109,496 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $118,249 - $128,110 per annum. Your annual salary will be pro-rata to 60% of the FTE full-time equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Registration as a General Nurse with AHPRA. 
  • The occupant of this position to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B.
