Job Description
The School of Environment and Science offers programs in environmental, forensic, biomedical and general science which include options to combine data science with the common science majors to better equip our graduates for the digitally enabled workplace of the future.
We are looking for a Research Fellow to work within the Surfaces, Materials and Catalysis research group on the development, characterisation and evaluation of catalysts for the development of electrocatalysts as part of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Green Electrochemical Transformation of Carbon Dioxide. The Research Fellow will report to Professor Karen Wilson.
The key responsibilities for this Research Fellow position include;
- Conduct laboratory, fieldwork, and research that contributes to the research objectives of the ARC Centre of Excellence.
- Maintain a strong publication record in high-impact, international, esteemed peer-reviewed journals and pursue competitive funding.
- Contribute to group research projects as appropriate to research skills.
- Assist in mentoring and supervision of higher degree research candidates.
This is a fixed term (two year), full time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Gold Coast campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.
Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Research Fellow Grade 1 range $86,526 - $101,354 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $101,236 - $118,585 per annum.
Qualifications
To be successful within this role, you will have a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated experience in the application of advanced spectroscopies and/or electron microscopies for dynamic studies of the physicochemical properties of inorganic nanoparticles and porous solids in the liquid or gas phase.
- Experience in the design, construction and use of reaction cells for in-situ or operando measurements of liquid or gas phase catalysis using electron microscopy or synchrotron radiation.
- Experience in computational methods to model physicochemical processes (e.g. DFT, molecular dynamics, or Monte-Carlo simulations) or transport processes (e.g. CFD). (This is desired, not essential)
- Ability to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills and contribute to the positive culture and aspirations of the School and University.
