Job Description
The Griffith School of Engineering and Built Environment (EBE) offers a broad range of engineering, architecture, planning, and aviation programs and has an active research culture which has helped foster strong links with high schools and community groups plus key industries on a local, national and global level.
The School is seeking an experienced Lecturer (Level B) to support high-quality teaching and to carry out activities to maintain and develop scholarly, and/or professional activities related to Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Planning.
This teaching focused position will commence in Trimester 3, 2024 and is required to perform full academic responsibilities and related administration for the coordination of courses and programs.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Foster an outstanding student experience and encourage active participation and engagement in learning and teaching across the spectrum of the University’s undergraduate, and postgraduate program suite facilitating high quality, student-centred learning activities.
- Support high quality learning and teaching outcomes for students evidenced by technology enhanced learning, problem oriented, authentic learning and assessment practices.
- Continuously improve teaching practice through professional development and critical reflection informed by a range of evaluation approaches.
- Provide educational contributions through responsibility for academic courses, including undertaking responsibilities aligned with the role of course convenor.
- Contribute to the enhancement of the School/Department standing and reputation by promoting educational activities with external communities.
This is a continuing, full-time position and will be primarily based at the Griffith University Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations. Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary for a Lecturer (Level B) is in the range $108,298 - $128,608 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $126,709 - $150,471 per annum.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a doctoral or masters qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing with 6+ years of experience and/or significant progress towards completion of a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline or field.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience (practical and teaching) in GIS
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality teaching and to engage students effectively
- Proven ability to develop and implement innovative curriculum and teaching materials
- Demonstrated experience in providing academic support and mentoring to students
- A strong underlying knowledge of Planning or a related discipline
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and engagement in scholarly activities relevant to teaching
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to interdisciplinary projects
- Ability to teach into relevant similar disciplines such as civil engineering, design, or architecture is considered desirable
