Job Description

The role
The Head of Department, Accounting, Finance and Economics is a key leadership role within the University and Griffith Business School and is responsible for achieving the department’s vision and mission by providing strategic leadership and management of the performance of the Department in learning and teaching, research and external engagement. Aligning activity and resources to the strategic objectives of the University is also essential.

The Head of Department will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Department, Group and beyond in achieving outcomes and will champion a culture of collaboration and innovation, leading to interdisciplinary opportunities in research and learning. Supporting and developing staff in leveraging opportunities for growth through excellent relationships with stakeholders.

What we can offer
The initial Head of Department term is for a period of 5 years with a substantive Professor Level E full-time continuing position. The primary location of the position will be determined in discussion with the successful candidate. The successful candidate will work across Griffith’s multiple campuses in Southeast Queensland.

An attractive salary package will be offered to the successful candidate.

The base salary for the substantive Professor Level E appointment is $199,775 per annum, plus 17% employer superannuation.

About you
This is a significant academic role requiring contemporary leadership ability, a passion for emerging areas of interest to industry and students, and a strong focus on scholarly excellence. Highly developed communication, resource management and organisational skills should be complemented by a demonstrated ability to engage effectively across the University and externally. 

A doctoral qualification in a relevant field, research expertise and proven leadership experience are essential. Industry relevant experience is welcome.
