VRH - Emergency & Critical Care Nurse Team Leader (Fixed-Term Maternity Leave Cover)
VRH is seeking an experienced and passionate ECC Nurse Team Leader to join our Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) team on a full or part time maternity leave contract.
VRH is a leading, multi-disciplinary specialist emergency and referral hospital delivering the highest standards of care to our furry friends, across Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Diagnostic Imaging, and anaesthesia. Working closely with the ECC Head of Department, veterinary leadership team, and senior nursing team, you will help drive clinical excellence, team engagement, and operational efficiency within a fast-paced emergency environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the emergency nursing team, including scheduling, performance management, and professional development.
- Coordinate patient care and ensure the delivery of high-quality emergency nursing services.
- Provide hands-on nursing support during busy periods and complex cases.
- Collaborate with the ECC Head of Department and leadership team to address operational and clinical challenges.
- Work closely with Surgery/Anaesthesia, Neurology, Medicine, and Diagnostic Imaging team leaders to promote seamless patient care and workflow.
- Mentor and develop nursing staff through coaching, education, and training initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of emergency nursing practices.
About You
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Emergency and Critical Care nursing; demonstrated leadership experience would be well regarded.
- Strong clinical knowledge and emergency nursing skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A creative, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
