Grab is more than just the leading ride-hailing and mobile payments platform in Southeast Asia. We work with governments, drivers, passengers, merchants, and the community, to solve critical problems in Southeast Asia.
Grab Geo team is an established team with strong start-up spirit, responsible for mapping, routing, navigation, POI (point-of-interest), travel time estimation and tech inventions on IoT etc. The Analytics team is one of the functions in Geo, whose mission is to advance product innovation with data analytics and experimentation best practices. Get to know the role
You will harness AI and large-scale geospatial data to solve complex mapping problems and provide the critical insights that power Grab’s superapp. Working at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Design and Operations, you will identify patterns in millions of GPS pings and sensor signals to build the most accurate map of Southeast Asia. We are looking for an innovative analyst to help evolve Grab’s "Geo-Moat" by turning raw telemetry into world-class mapping intelligence.
This role is based in Singapore and onsite.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
AI-Powered Insights: Use agentic solutions to generate data-driven hypotheses that solve geospatial problems like routing, "first-mile/last-mile," and POI (Point of Interest) accuracy challenges.
Partner closely with the broader product and engineering team to design and analyze experiments that drive key product decisions, deep dive into existing data to recommend new product ideas to solve for the most impactful customer problems
Design and own data specs for mapping features, while collaborating with engineering teams to ensure accurate and timely data collection, ensuring scalable data collection that bridges the gap between raw signals and executive decision-making.
Define and rigorously track high-impact metrics to provide actionable recommendations for continuous map improvement. Proactively use data to identify trends, spot anomalies and deep dive into their root causes
Build and maintain AI-powered tools that allow regional business teams to self-serve geospatial insights, accelerating Grab’s ability to respond to local market changes.
Provide mentorship to junior team members
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
4+ years of experience in data analytics. Experience in IoT, map-making and working with Geospatial datasets will be preferred.
AI native mindset, enjoy using AI to support your day to day work. Experience with building AI tools is a plus
Fluent in SQL, Python, R, or other scripting/programming languages, and comfortable with very large datasets and complex ETL processes.
Exposure to GIS tools and utilities (e.g., QGIS, Kepler, PostGIS) to manipulate, analyze, and visualize spatial data to improve maps and inform product insights will be a plus.
Statistical knowledge is a must. You have hands-on experience in running and analyzing controlled experiments, turning data into actionable insights.
Data visualization and storytelling skills. Ability to build the right visualizations to communicate complex analyses to a variety of audiences, including senior leaders.
Own the design and execution of innovative data frameworks for ambiguous problems, empowering stakeholders with the insights required to steer product strategy
