Job Description
The Portfolio Manager - Private Markets oversees the Group’s Private Markets sub-portfolio, ensuring alignment with investment guidelines, risk limits, and long-term value objectives. To manage the Private Markets portfolio of the Group and achieve consistent investment returns and alpha over medium/long-term period based on return/risk profile set by the Group and market conditions, with a focus on Developed Markets (North America, and to a lesser extent Europe and Asia).
- To develop and implement an approved portfolio strategy by the Investment Committee, with the support and supervision of the CIO, with the intent of a long-term compounding approach.
- To screen for new investment ideas, including funds and co-investments across Private Equity (Buyout, Secondary and Venture Capital / Growth), Private Debt and Real Assets.
- To conduct deep research and analysis of funds and companies, as well as sector, regional, economic and asset class trends.
- To stay abreast of market and macro-economic trends that may change the investment landscape over the mid to long term.
- To draft and present investment material to the Investment Committee.
- To monitor the portfolio – monitoring latest news/developments on the underlining companies in the portfolio as well as any possible macro-economic impacts.
- To develop and implement internal controls to safeguard the assets of the portfolio.
- To manage private markets resources efficiently.
- To supervise operational functions of the investment activity including investment banks and other relationships.
- To report to Investment Committee based on agreed framework with the Chief Investment Officer.
- To represent the Group effectively and professionally and develop and maintain frequent relationships within the investment community – e.g., fund managers, investment banks, secondary advisors, placement agents, brokers, investors, government regulators etc.
- To be an advocate of the Group’s brand within the managers’ community and get access to constrained capacity investment opportunities.
- To understand and effectively measure the risks of the Private Markets portfolio in the context of the broader Group asset allocation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree combined with an MBA or Master’s in Finance/Accounting
- CFA is preferred
- 10+ years of work experience in private markets investments
- Hands-on experience with fundamental analysis, due diligence and corporate valuation
