Job Description
- Prepare and inspect rigging equipment before use to ensure it is safe and functional.
- Set up rigging for lifting and moving heavy equipment, materials, or structures in oil and gas facilities, both onshore and offshore.
- Select the appropriate rigging gear (e.g., slings, shackles, chains, wire ropes) based on the load’s weight and dimensions.
- Attach and secure loads to cranes or other lifting devices following strict safety procedures.
- Signal or communicate with crane operators to guide the movement of loads during lifting operations.
- Safely dismantle rigging equipment and store it after use.
- Collaborate with crane operators and other team members to execute lifts efficiently and safely.
- Conduct inspections of rigging equipment regularly and report any damages or maintenance needs.
- Ensure compliance with industry safety standards and follow all site-specific safety protocols.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of heavy materials and machinery at project sites.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in rigging and lifting operations from a recognized institution.
- Additional safety certifications such as Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) or similar are preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in rigging, with a focus on oil and gas projects.
- Experience working with heavy machinery, including cranes and hoisting equipment.
Additional Information
- Proven experience as a Rigger, preferably in the oil and gas sector.
- Thorough knowledge of rigging equipment and lifting techniques.
- Familiarity with load-bearing capacities and different types of rigging gear.
- Ability to read and interpret load charts, rigging plans, and work instructions.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations in lifting operations (e.g., OSHA standards).
- Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with crane operators and the rigging team.
- Expertise in rigging techniques and equipment.
- Strong physical fitness and stamina for handling heavy loads and working in challenging conditions.
- Teamwork and coordination skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Effective communication and hand signaling skills.
