Job Description

The job holder is responsible for procuring pharmaceutical products from the local market for the company. The primary objective of the position is to ensure adequate inventory levels of the required medicines while optimizing costs and maintaining efficiency. The job holder will collaborate with suppliers & internal / external stakeholders, to meet the organization's medicines needs.

  • Develop and implement a procurement strategy for the local purchase of pharmaceutical products.
  • Evaluate performance of local suppliers and negotiate prices and terms.
  • Forecast demand based on organizational needs to ensure adequate stock levels and avoid stockouts.
  • Optimize inventory turnover and implement strategies to reduce expiration and obsolescence risks.
  • Generate purchasing and inventory reports as requested by departmental leadership.
  • Stay updated with pharmaceutical regulations, licensing requirements, and industry standards.
  • Continuously review and analyze operations recommending and implementing operational changes, new technologies, etc. that will increase the efficiency and service level of the medicine’s purchasing function of the company.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Additional Information

Skills & Professional Requirements:

 

  • Solid knowledge of pharmaceutical products, suppliers & commercial terms in UAE.
  • Familiarity with procurement software systems and inventory management tools.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.

Experience Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a buyer, purchasing specialist, or procurement manager in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry in the UAE.
  • Previous experience in a similar role for a large hospital / group in the UAE is an advantage.
