Job Description

We are currently looking to hire an experienced Scrub Nurse to join our Kent Street Day Surgery on a maternity leave contract. In this role you will be assisting in scrubbing for procedures, then also assisting in recovery and contacting patients before and after procedures. Assisting the teams in other duties that are required amongst the team. 

Your range of duties will include;

  • prepare instruments and set up other surgical equipment
  • position, prepare and drape the patient per surgical procedure
  • assist the surgical team in scrubbing in for surgery
  • anticipate the surgeon's needs in surgical equipment and instruments
  • label and document medication and operating room items
  • monitor the patient's respiratory and cardiovascular signs
  • perform safety checks and discard waste from the surgery room
  • hand the patient to the recovery team after a procedure
  • create a plan of action for potential complications
  • communicate and collaborate with the surgical team throughout the procedure

Qualifications

This role is perfect for a qualified Registered Nurse with experience in Scrub/Anaesthetic or Peri-Op nursing. You will bring to the role strong clinical skills from your previous theatre experience as well as a commitment to providing an exceptional experience to every single patient who comes through the unit.
