The Dental Assistant will be responsible for the fabrication of quality prosthetic denture products in accordance with established protocols and specifications.  This includes reading prescriptions or specifications and examining models or impressions to determine the design of dental products to be constructed.  Testing appliances for conformance to specifications and accuracy of occlusion, using articulators and micrometers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to use various tools and equipment in a lab environment:  trimmers, grinders, lathes, articulators and cleaning devices
  • Take impressions and pour models
  • Complete denture set-up and finishing work
  • Collaborate with dentist and other members of the dental team to ensure a proper fit and function of the prosthetic
  • Use a software to digitally design denture cases
  • Handle and maintain 3D printer materials and equipment
  • Post-processing (cleaning) and finishing of dental appliances
  • Fabricate crowns and bridges
  • Manufacture fixed or removable appliances
  • Keep the lab orderly and stocked
  • Complete documentation of actions by filling out forms, reports, logs, and records

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Post high school certification in dental assisting or dental lab
  • 1-2 years of working experience within dentures and dental labs, preferred but not necessary. 
  • 4-5 years of experience in a dental setting, preferred but not necessary. 
  • Skills such as arts/crafts, detailed painting, sewing, jewelry making and pottery; tasks that require details hand eye coordination will be helpful in excelling in this position. 
  • Clear and concise oral communication skills with English proficiency
  • Easily understand and communicate written and verbal directions 
  • Documentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting
  • High level of attention to detail and organization skills
  • Ability to follow detailed directions without difficulty

Compensation: $20-25/hr

Working Environment & Physical Requirements  

This is a clinical working environment where potential exposure to hazardous waste and blood-borne pathogens is possible. Requires prolonged periods of standing, sitting, leaning, and bending up to 8 hours a day. Will be required to carry, transport, and use tools and equipment. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
