Company Description
Gameloft Indonesia is part of the global Gameloft, a game developer and publisher with 25+ years of experience and titles enjoyed by millions worldwide.
Our Yogyakarta studio, established in 2010, is home to 300+ skilled game makers and continues to grow as a key studio in Southeast Asia. Based in Yogyakarta, we work in a hybrid setup that balances collaboration and flexibility. We're a close-knit team in one of Indonesia's most livable cities, a cultural and arts hub with an inspiring, creative energy and a quality of life that's hard to match
As a trusted co-development partner, we contribute to projects like Disney Dreamlight Valley Apple Arcade and manage the SongPop franchise, building high-quality games for a global audience.
Job Description
This is not a role where you follow someone else’s design philosophy. You define it for a studio building credibility to earn bigger mandates, with you as a central reason it gets there.
What is this role all about?
Gameloft Indonesia is on an upward trajectory, earning trust with HQ through the quality of what we ship. As Lead Game Designer, you sit at the center of that shift.
You don’t just manage a team. You mold and shape it into a design organization, defining how game design works across the studio, from how ideas are created to how they scale into published live products
You won’t just manage a team, you will shape and elevate it into a true design organization, defining how game design operates across the studio, from idea creation to scaling into shipped products.
Your vision sets the direction. Your team turns it into reality.
And the results define what the studio is entitled to build next.
This is a leadership role with real weight: creative, organizational, and strategic, with the expectation that you stay close enough to the craft to shape decisions directly.
What will you do?
- Set the bar for gameplay, UX, balancing, and player experience, and ensure every project moves toward it.
- You don’t inherit a finished team, you evolve it. Raising the bar, developing skills, and shaping how designers think, create, and collaborate, aligning the team with the studio’s long-term goals and industry evolution.
- Guide early-stage exploration, validate ideas, and shape concepts that can scale into viable productions.
- Step into projects when needed, solving complex design problems, unblocking teams, and raising quality.
- Identify high-potential designers and build a skilled Live Ops core that can sustain long-term game performance.
- Build processes, workflows, and best practices that scale across multiple projects and collaborations.
- Be the bridge across teams and studios, as a peer with Producers, Studio Leadership, and other Gameloft studios, ensuring alignment, clarity, and effective collaboration.
- Act as a voice of the studio in the local game dev ecosystem and build a bigger presence in the industry.
Qualifications
What are we looking for?
Someone who can hold a clear creative vision and make an entire team capable of executing it
- 6+ years in game design, with experience as Lead or Senior GD on mobile titles
- Shipped at least 2 released games in a lead or senior design capacity
- Deep experience across gameplay systems, balancing, UI/UX, and player experience
- Ability to turn complex ideas into clear, actionable direction
- Experience leading and motivating design teams
- Deep understanding of the mobile game market, trends, and player behavior
- Well-developed data-driven mindset: able to translate metrics, player feedback, and market signals into design improvements
- Comfortable balancing long-term vision with iterative, agile execution
- Good communication skills in English for cross-studio collaboration
You’ll stand out if you also bring experience on PC or console, a solid technical foundation (scripting or programming fundamentals), familiarity with standard production tools (Jira, Confluence, Miro), or a formal background in Game Design, Computer Science, or related fields. While none of these are required, they will help you get up to speed faster and start contributing sooner
