Job Description

Principal Responsibilities

  • Managing all game designers under his supervision, which includes their daily work, technical issues, evaluation, motivation, and compliance with discipline as well as company regulations
  • Lead & oversee game pitches & RnD projects
  • Involve hands-on in the projects whenever the situation requires it
  • Regularly conduct department evaluations aimed at promoting and showcasing what’s going well and improving points, following a clear action plan with clear milestones and performance indicators
  • Lead and coordinate recruitment and training efforts aimed at aligning the Game Design department with the long term vision of the studio
  • Lead and coordinate the upskill of the Game Design department in order to align with the studio’s vision, industry trends and the most up to date tools and design processes in the market
  • Create and execute on his own vision for the Game Design department, aligned with the studio’s long term plan
  • With strong Live Ops knowledge, identify the game designers with potential and work with them toward building a solid Live Ops core of game designers in the studio
  • Be an active part of the discussions with relevant studios or projects stakeholders from other Gameloft studios
  • Lead cross studio collaborations and communications, building  a solid bridge between the Game Design department and other similar departments in other Gameloft studios
  • Be the Studio’s representative in the local market game dev events
  • In cooperation with relevant producers:
  • To advise relevant producers in task assignment and game designers coordination to ensure a correct staffing on all projects.
  • To follow up game design tasks, regularly check team-members’ work status, actively take initiatives to help solve issues and provide support.
  • To make sure that game designers’ work meets deadlines as well as expected quality standards.
  • To assign the most suited game designers on the projects that best match their skills.
  • To participate into the team’s project meetings and ensure a smooth coordination between the game designers and the rest of the team
  • Discuss best practices on projects and coordinate with relevant producers to apply them, as well as raising any issues encountered that need support for solving

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • +6 years as GD including experiences as lead GD or main GD for core gameplay on mobile platform
  • Must have shipped at least 2 successful titles as a lead or senior GD position
  • Proficient in all aspects of game design such as gameplay, balancing, UI, UX, etc.
  • Ability to concisely convey ideas, formulate and develop complex concepts
  • Capable of providing focused and inspiring creative leadership, and able to coordinate and motivate a whole design team
  • Up-to-date on the mobile market and trends
  • Ability to hold a strong creative vision while also keeping that vision agile
  • High visual creativity and passion for developing video games
  • Ability to analyze all data sources (tracking, surveys, community mood) and translate it to actionable conclusions to improve game performance and results
  • Excellent organizational skills, and experience with standard industry tools (such as Jira and Trello).
  • Excellent level of English

Pluses

  • Working experience on PC or console titles
  • University degree in Game Design, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Knowledge of object oriented and natural programming languages
