Job Description
We’re seeking an experienced Lead Animation Artist to join our Brisbane studio and help shape the visual direction of our games. You’ll lead a talented team of artists, collaborating closely with designers, animators, and programmers to bring immersive worlds to life. This is a key role in guiding artistic standards and fostering a collaborative environment.
As a Lead Animation Artist with us, you will:
- Lead and inspire a team of character artists and animators, providing guidance and mentorship to foster their growth and development.
- Collaborate with the Art Director, Assosiate Character Lead and Game Designers to establish and maintain the visual style of the game.
- Ensure that all Characters and animations align with the overall artistic vision and meet high-quality standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of character and animations into the game engine.
- Manage Character and Animation team production schedules and allocate resources effectively to meet project milestones.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve and innovate our artistic processes.
Qualifications
What you need to succeed:
- From 5 years of experience leading art teams and projects.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team towards achieving project goals.
- Proven ability to collaborate across disciplines, including design, art, and engineering teams.
- Proficiency with Unreal Engine and 3D software (preferably Maya).
- Expertise in high-poly and low-poly modelling, with a solid understanding of various texturing workflows.
- Strong observation skills and a keen eye for detail.
- A thorough understanding of animation pipelines and processes.
- A strong understanding of character design and animation principles, including character movement, acting, timing, and weight and/or understanding of human and creature anatomy, facial expressions, costume design, and a grasp of form, silhouette, and proportion.
