Job Description
General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada is currently hiring a Field Service Representative (FSR) for our Maritime Helicopter Project (MHP) In-Service Support (ISS) program. GDMS-C provides maintenance and support service to the CH148 Helicopter Sub-systems and delivered Ground Systems.
As a Field Service Representative (FSR), you provide long-term support to fielded product at Department of National Defense (DND) facility located in Patricia Bay, British Columbia. As a main contact with the customer, you will provide initial technical problem responses, analysis and recommending resolution paths.
Operating principally from the GDMS-C Contractor Field Offices (CFO), the FSR is an integral member of the onsite multi-contractor team, advising Senior Aircraft Maintenance Authorities, Maintenance Managers and aircraft Technicians; performing maintenance activities beyond the capability of DND technicians; and conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on fielded GD assets.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Providing timely daily technical support to customer queries related to fielded product both on-site and deployed.
- Investigating Technical Problems (TPs) including identification of appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintenance, diagnosis of complex failure conditions and performing in-situ repair and modifications on a variety of avionics, electrical and computer related systems.
- Coordinating availability of all GDMS-C provided Support Test Equipment (STE) on location.
- Providing on-going system analysis to support continuous improvement initiatives both to internal stakeholders and end users.
- Performing routine preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on GD owned equipment; including aircraft parts and support test equipment.
- Performing Maintenance and setup tasks for ground and shipborne equipment; including installation and setup on Navy ships at Esquimalt and Halifax dockyards.
- Performing routine administrative task such as backups, ordering replacement parts and consumables.
- Maintaining adequate inventory sparing levels needed to support immediate maintenance tasks to prevent delay in equipment turnaround times.
- Participating in deployment planning meetings and material setup requirements to support DND deployment operations.
- Liaising with internal Engineering and Logistic support development teams to ensure In-Service requirements are well understood during routine problem resolution as well as new Maintenance Task Analysis and system design.
- Providing system level support to the Life Cycle Maintenance Manager (LCMM), as required.
Qualifications
- At least 4-6 years of relevant work experience; preferably as an aircraft avionics technologist.
- Knowledge of Helicopter operations and Maintenance environments.
- Familiarity with Airborne Mission Systems and simulators for Engineering and Training Systems would be an asset.
- Require a three year Community College diploma as an aircraft technologist or equivalent time and experience within an accredited Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) or previous DND aircraft technologist’s qualifications, or civilian AME qualifications.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with Customers and Team Members.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with minimum supervision.
- Superb analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Must be willing to travel and be on temporary work assignment as required approximately 10% of the time
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
Additional Information
The expected salary range for this position is $110,000–$117,000 per annum. The final compensation will be determined based on an assessment of the candidate’s qualifications, including relevant knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity considerations.
