General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV’s.  Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and weapon systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

An exciting opportunity to join General Dynamics, a leading-edge defence company, as a Manufacturing Project Manager.

This position, would allow you to play a leading role in our innovative Manufacturing team, working on both avionics systems and armoured vehicle communication systems.

  • Become involved with bid costings relating to manufacturing for both competitive and non-competitive opportunities, with an accompanying list of assumptions and risks. Create a proposed schedule for manufacture.
  • Review and approve Statement of Work (SOW), ensuring it is loaded to the MRP system and the budget requirements match the bid submission. Hold a kick off meeting to inform key stakeholders of requirements and set responsibilities.
  • Support the programme team in the creation and development of risk logs, master project schedules and any reviews they require. Ensuring they remain updated throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring the headcount database is updated with latest data.
  • Creation of a Production Readiness Review for each project.
  • Manage manufacturing spend against the budget, through monthly ETC reviews.
  • Identify new opportunities and how these could benefit manufacturing, working with stakeholders to grow the department.

Qualifications

  • Ideally, requires the Associate Project Management Qualification or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead a team.
  • Able to work independently and prioritise yours, and others, workload.
  • Capable of working on numerous tasks in parallel.
  • An understanding of MRP system and scheduling.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software.

Additional Information

This role of Manufacturing Project Manager has a starting salary of £35,8400 to £44,800 dependant upon experience and an attractive flexible benefits package.
