Job Description

The RFP Team Manager will play a pivotal role in our business development efforts by leading a team responsible for preparing and submitting compelling Request for Proposal (RFP) responses. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong project management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of our industry and offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of RFP writers, coordinators, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of RFP responses.  Assign responsibilities, set expectations, and provide guidance to team members.

RFP Process Management & Improvement: Oversee the end-to-end RFP process, from initial request through submission and post submission activities.  Continuously refine and enhance the RFP response process, including the development of templates, best practices, and workflow efficiencies.

Strategy Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration:  Work closely with the sales and business development teams to develop a winning strategy for each RFP, including understanding client needs and tailoring responses accordingly.  Collaborate with various departments, including Sales, Product Development, Legal, and Finance, to gather necessary information and insights for RFP responses.

Content Creation: Oversee the development of persuasive and well-organised RFP responses, ensuring alignment with company messaging and value propositions.

Knowledge Management: Leverage RFP management software and tools to streamline the process, track progress, and maintain a repository of RFP content, case studies, and other materials to streamline future responses.  Ensure continuous updates and improvements are being made to the content based on feedback and evolving market trends. 

Market Research: Stay current with industry trends, competitor offerings, and market dynamics to inform RFP responses.

Reporting: Provide regular updates on RFP team performance, metrics, and win rates to senior management.

Training and Development: Identify training needs for team members and provide coaching and guidance to enhance their skills and capabilities.

QA, Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all RFP responses adhere to compliance,legal and regulatory requirements and identify potential risks associated with RFP submissions and develop strategies to mitigate them

RFP Managers play a pivotal role in securing new business opportunities, and their ability to coordinate cross-functional teams, manage resources efficiently, and produce compelling RFP responses is critical to the organization's success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
  • 11+ years of overall experience with 7-10 years of experience in RFP management, with a track record of successfully managing and winning complex RFPs.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide innovative solutions.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and RFP management software.
  • Knowledge of SAAS industry and understanding of Customer Service, ITSM, and CRM software
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information

  • Prior work experience in SaaS product companies in domains relevant to Freshworks' suite of products.
