Job Description

Freshworks is seeking a Senior Copy Editor to lead an organization-wide effort to establish and enforce new copy style standards for content on the Freshworks.com domain. This includes all website copy, our blog and editorial thought leadership platform, demand-gen and campaign copy, and other related assets.

As the copy chief for the brand marketing team, you’ll work with the editor in chief and others to complete two main objectives: first, to define and draft a Freshworks copy style guide that can be distributed to and implemented by multiple teams in marketing, sales, communications and other functions; second, to help build and manage a small team of copy editors that can integrate quality control into the brand team’s editorial and marketing calendars.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Draft and implement a definitive copy style guide for Freshworks, using best practice knowledge of other style guides
  • Copyedit article drafts, white papers, e-books, website copy, and other digital content assets for the brand team and other groups
  • Present, explain, and socialize the new copy standards to multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Establish efficient workflows and communication protocols for copyediting in our overall production process

This role will be hybrid from our San Mateo, CA (HQ) location.

Qualifications

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • 7+ years experience copy editing in a professional newsroom or brand publishing environment
  • Deep familiarity with industry-standard copy standards and references, such as AP Stylebook, the Chicago Manual of Style, and common derivations/customizations of each.
  • Experience managing other copy editors, freelance or in-house
  • Enthusiasm working in a highly collaborative, hands-on role with an extended team of editors, writers, marketers, and strategists.
  • Hands-on expertise with digital CMS platforms, content analytics, and other modern editorial tools needed to build and scale efficient, high-performing content operations.
  • Proven and reliable project management, collaboration, and communication skills.

Additional Information

The annual OTE range for this position is $168,000 - $210,000+

Compensation is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to location, experience, job-related skills, and level. Bonus/equity may be available.
