This is a hands on technical role involving fault finding, repairs, and routine maintenance, alongside supporting inspections and contractor activities. The role contributes to maintaining high standards across all areas of the site, including the warehouse, offices, welfare facilities, plant rooms, yard, and external spaces.

Responsibilities cover a wide range of building services and site assets, including electrical systems, plumbing, heating and ventilation, drainage, doors, building fabric, fire safety systems, and general facilities equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical building services, including power, lighting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), ensuring systems remain safe and operational.
  • Undertake a range of multitrade tasks (e.g. electrical, basic fabric repairs, painting), in line with qualifications and competency.
  • Diagnose faults, perform testing, and carry out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Complete work orders issued via CMMS systems, ensuring all tasks are progressed efficiently.
  • Accurately update job records, including work orders, PPM logs, defect reports, and handover notes.
  • Support engineers and contribute to larger maintenance activities and small scale project work where required.
  • Assist with contractor activities, including access, escorting, isolations, and handovers.
  • Communicate clearly with the Facilities Shift Manager on completed work, outstanding issues, parts required, and any escalations.
  • Maintain effective communication during shift handovers to ensure continuity of work.
  • Record evidence of completed work where required (e.g. photos, check sheets, service notes).
  • Use and maintain relevant systems and software effectively.
  • Liaise with warehouse colleagues, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to support delivery of works.
  • Support the wider Facilities team and assist with operational tasks as required by the business.

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working within a warehouse or large scale site environment, supporting planned and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Relevant technical qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2+, City & Guilds, apprenticeship, HNC/HND or equivalent in a recognised trade).
  • Practical understanding of mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems, or multi-skilled trade experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in a multi-trade or maintenance role.
  • Skilled in the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with site equipment and systems within a facilities or maintenance environment.
  • Relevant licences such as IPAF, PASMA, forklift, or similar (desirable).
  • Flexibility to work overtime and participate in weekend/on-call rota where required.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach to changing demands.
  • Self motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
