Job Description
The Senior Product Compliance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all FBIN products comply with relevant regulations, standards, and customer requirements. This senior role involves developing and implementing advanced compliance strategies, leading third-party product testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain the highest standards of product safety and quality. This position may require occasional travel for audits, testing, or regulatory meetings.
This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule based in Deerfield, IL.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior subject matter expert (SME) for compliance standards across multiple product lines.
- Support FBIN NPD Projects, with compliance requirements, certification testing, listing to enable launch of products in a timely manner.
- Lead the organization in staying up to date and advising on compliance with international, federal, and local regulations (e.g., FCC, CE, UL, RoHS, REACH).
- Oversee and organize third-party product testing to verify compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation of compliance activities, test results, and certifications.
- Utilize PLM software to capture key compliance documentation and link to specific products.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Marketing teams to integrate compliance requirements into product development and lifecycle management.
- Provide advanced technical support and guidance to customers regarding compliance-related inquiries and issues.
- Lead and support internal and external audits, including supplier compliance evaluations.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for internal teams on compliance standards and best practices as needed.
- Leads process improvement initiatives by analyzing current workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing optimized solutions. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure best practices are followed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in product compliance OR Bachelor’s Degree in any STEM-related major with 10+ years of experience in product compliance.
- Extensive knowledge and facilitative skills with compliance and/or regulatory requirements, listings, certifications, and process development.
- Proven experience working with third-party testing agencies.
- In-depth knowledge of test systems and methods.
- Proficient in reading product design drawings and technical documentation.
- Fluent with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
- Demonstrated experience working in a team environment.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage fluctuating priorities; must be a self-starter and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with building material products (Doors, Locks, Decking, Plumbing etc/., with focus on one or more areas.
- Experience working with ERP systems like SAP/Oracle, etc.
- Experience working with a PLM System (e.g., 3DX, Windchill, etc.).
Additional Information
Fortune Brands believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $81,000 - $146,000. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based sales incentive plan.
