ABOUT THE JOB

The CNC Press Brake Operator plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by operating and maintaining press brake machines to produce high-quality components. This job requires attention to detail, technical skills, and the ability to interpret blueprints and measurements accurately. A successful Press Brake Operator must also have a strong focus on safety protocols and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up and operate press brake, shear, and laser machines to cut, bend and shape sheet metal to drawing specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production schedules to determine the required specifications for each job.
  • Select the appropriate tooling, dies, and machinery settings for each bending operation.
  • Position metal plates and sheets onto the press brake machine and accurately align them according to the specified measurements.
  • Adjust machine settings such as speed, pressure, and depth to ensure precise bending and shaping of the metal.
  • Monitor the operation of the press brake machine, making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet the required specifications, dimensions, and quality standards.
  • Manage time appropriately and prioritize tasks to meet production deadlines.
  • Complete edits to machine programs/setups.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of press brake machines to ensure optimal performance and prevent malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues or notify the maintenance department for repairs.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Experience as a CNC Machine Operator, specifically focused on Brake Press and/or Shear equipment; trade school experience, utilizing similar equipment, will be accepted in lieu of work experience.
  • Candidates must be able to read a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer.
  • Ability to read and interpret machine drawings, blueprints, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Strong mathematical skills to accurately measure and calculate dimensions for bending operations.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to ensure precision and accuracy in all bending and shaping tasks.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle metal plates and sheets effectively.
  • Good problem-solving skills to identify and resolve minor machine issues.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with team members and convey important information.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ Years of experience in a similar position, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to CNC Laser Equipment
  • Willingness to undergo training and continuing education to stay updated with new techniques and technologies in press brake operations.
  • Knowledge of different types of metals, their characteristics, and how they respond to bending operations
