The Campground Supervisor supervises the operation of the campground and provides visitors with a safe and clean camping facility.
Open and close campground at start and end of season.
Hire, train, schedule, discipline, directly supervise and delegate work to Campground Attendants.
Review department timesheets for accuracy.
Collect and balance daily collection fees from the self-pay station to input and match fees to occupied campsites.
Collect fees from campground visitors who do not pay using the self-pay station.
Enforce checkout time.
Work with company computer tablet and on-line reservation system, taking reservations, processing payments, answering guest questions, and confirming campground arrivals.
Work with Campground Manager in developing weekly department schedules, keeping track of departmental payroll costs and rearranging schedules.
Conduct daily litter pickup, empty and sort recycling receptacles and clean recycle bins.
Clean shower house and restrooms, sweep and mop floors, wash mirrors, walls, stalls, and stock supplies.
Counsel and discipline staff when needed, document action taken and submit to Human Resources.
MARGINAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
Assign staff special tasks during slow times.
Assist Campground Manager with other duties as necessary.
Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs and policies.
Works extra shifts and hours as required.
Assists in other departments as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Certified in CPR/First Aid or be able to obtain within one year of hire.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Knowledge of campground operations.
Knowledge of campground safety.
Able to work weekends and holidays.
Good training, supervisory and management skills.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to calmly and effectively enforce campground rules and regulations.
Ability to visually recognize hazards and campground violations.
Knowledge of driving trailers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Walk on paved unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces.
Walk during entire shift up to several miles.
Stand/remain upright, bend, kneel, reach, turn, stoop, squat and stretch repetitively.
Sit/remain seated for up to 2 hours at a time.
Regularly required to talk and hear.
Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions (i.e.; rain, wind, snow, etc.) and temperatures ranging from the teens to low 90’s.
Lift up to 50 pounds daily.
Operate a golf cart.
Ability to visually recognize hazards and campground violations, etc.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
High school diploma or (GED) preferred
One year of experience working in a campground
Two years of experience working with the public
Supervisory work experience preferred
Experience in guest service, rules and regulation enforcement, confrontation regarding rules, and defusing volatile situations
Human/wildlife conflict experience preferred
Experience with driving trailers preferred
